Staying Focused and Productive Over the Holidays

Staying focused is a challenge for most of us. Add in the holiday season and December is a tough month. We are all running the holiday race. Here are a few strategies to help make December your most productive month. Plus give you some time to enjoy the festivities. 

1) Front load your week. 

Focus on your business producing activities in the beginning of the week. Go all in on Monday and Tuesday with your follow up calls and prospecting calls. We all know if you leave that part of your business until the end of the week, when the holiday parties and other social commitments start kicking in, prospecting won’t get done. 

2) Keep doing open houses.

Many agents stop doing open houses over the holidays. This is a missed opportunity. This time of year results in many conversations about the future and 2020 plans. Those plans often include buying or selling in the upcoming year. An open house sign at the end of a street can lead to a quick stop to look around by a future buyer. Remember, we are always working today for tomorrow’s business. 

Another bonus of open houses this time of year is the sparkle and magic of holiday decorations! 

 3) Be present and live in the moment. 

I had a client share with me recently that they feel guilty when they working and not doing things with their family. But when they are with their family, they feel guilty they are not working. So, basically, they are miserable no matter what they are doing. Don’t do that. Be present. Set you priorities, plan your day and enjoy being present in each moment. 

I know that is easy to say but you can do it. It is a mindset choice. Choose a present and grateful mindset not a guilty and distracted one. Everyone in your life, most especially you, will feel better. 

4) Put your phone away for a few minutes (may I even dare suggest hours?). 

I’ve observed this disconnection at business functions, family gatherings and hanging out with friends. Don’t be that person surrounded by people who is zoning them out and lost in their phone. It’s kinda like putting a flashing sign on your forehead that says “I don’t want to be here”.
